Dr Maggie Ng graduated with a first class honours degree in Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Industrial and Systems Engineering and obtained her Doctor of Philosophy from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU). Her research involves analysing and characterising the properties of NiTi shape memory alloy for long term medical application by laser surface alloying process. Her research interests include industrial laser, advanced materials and biotechnology.

Dr Ng’s outstanding academic performance won her many awards including the Sir Edward Youde Memorial Fellowship, the HKAUW Thomas HC Cheung Postgraduate Scholarship, Scholarship Award offered by The Institute of Industrial Engineers (Hong Kong), Sonca Products Gold Medal Award, Category Award (PolyU-IDT Innovative Entrepreneur Contest) and the Shun Hing Electric Works and Engineering Scholarship etc.

Prior to joining HKCC, Dr Ng was an academic visitor at the Wolfson School of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering, Loughborough University, UK, where she was engaged in research on the biocompatibility of biomaterials. Besides research experience, she also has extensive teaching experience in Materials Science, Mathematics, Electronic and Engineering Science at the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering of PolyU.
