Dr May Lau had worked in the private commercial sector and gained experience in the merchandising, marketing and sales fields at international companies before obtaining her Doctor of Philosophy from the Institute of Textiles and Clothing of PolyU.

Her teaching interests are directed towards the professional preparation of students pursuing careers in different industries. Specific subjects include: consumer behaviour, integrated marketing communication, marketing strategy and applications, strategic marketing and management, and research methodology. Dr Lau has also taught graduate courses in areas such as brand loyalty and consumer behaviour.

Her research studies are directed towards practical and theoretical concepts operating in the retail and manufacturing settings specifically related to brand development, business development, relationship management, strategic networking, and supply chain management.
