Dr Angel Li obtained her PhD in English Language and Literature from Shanghai International Studies University. Her PhD research investigated learners’ peer feedback practices and beliefs in English as a Foreign Language (EFL) writing.

Dr Li’s research interests lie in second language acquisition, writing assessment and feedback, and learner agency in language learning, on which she has published articles in academic journals.

Before joining this institution, Dr Li taught English at Huaqiao University for many years. She also once worked as a senior editor in a Hong Kong-based media group where she was responsible for editing and publishing English news reports, and planning video programmes. The valuable experience of teaching and news editing has facilitated her teaching in the Division of Languages and Communication.
