Dr Jane Zhang received her Bachelor of Arts (Hon) and Master of Arts (majoring in Modern and Contemporary Chinese Literature) from the Department of Chinese Language and Literature of Sun Yat-sen University, Guangzhou. She came down south to Hong Kong in 2004, afterward became a Ph.D. candidate of the Division of Humanities of The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. Dr Zhang then went to the United States and worked as a visiting scholar at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Her academic interests include modern Chinese literature, contemporary Chinese literary criticism, Chinese movies and popular culture.

Dr Zhang teaches Chinese related courses at HKCC.
