Dr Chen Ying-cong obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Chinese Language and Literature and Master of Arts in Traditional Chinese Literature from Sun Yat-sen University. After that, she pursued her doctoral degree in the Division of Humanities of The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) and was awarded Doctor of Philosophy.

Before joining HKCC, Dr Chen worked as a teaching assistant, research assistant and course instructor at the HKUST and The Education University of Hong Kong.

Dr Chen's research interests include Chinese Literary Criticism, Chinese Poetics, Chinese Language, and Chinese Culture. She has published several papers in major academic journals in mainland China and Taiwan. These papers cover a variety of topics such as Chinese literature, Chinese intellectual history, Chinese philosophy, and Chinese folklore.
