Teaching and Scholarly Interests: Bilingual Studies & Communication
Ms Mimi Ng received her Bachelor of Arts in Linguistics from University of Calgary, and was later awarded a Master of Arts in Linguistics (with distinction) by City University of Hong Kong.
Ms Ng has worked as a research assistant in The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and in an applied research institute for a number of years, developing teaching materials aimed at improving secondary school student’s English pronunciation and conversational skills.
Prior to joining HKCC, Ms Ng was involved in a PolyU research project related to the English pronunciation of university students in Hong Kong. During that period, she was also serving as a visiting lecturer of HKCC.
With extensive experience in linguistic research and language teaching, Ms Ng’s expertise lies in the areas of phonetics and phonology, sociolinguistics, and English language learning. She teaches subjects related to language study and English at HKCC.
