Dr Jiao Nina received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Chinese Language and Literature from Shanxi Normal University. After that, she obtained her Master of Arts degree in Applied Linguistics from Nankai University, Master of Philosophy degree in Chinese Linguistics from The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. In 2011, she was further awarded Doctor of Philosophy degree in Linguistics by The University of Hong Kong.

Before joining HKCC, Dr Jiao worked as a full-time lecturer for one year at Beijing Chinese Language and Culture College and for half a year at The Community College at Lingnan University. In addition, she also taught Mandarin to foreigners as part-time teacher at Nankai University, Tianjin University and China Foreign Affairs University.

Dr Jiao’ s research interests include Typology, Lexicology, Optimality Theory and Jin Dialect.
