Dr Bilal Hussain holds two doctorates in Information and Communications Engineering earned under a joint PhD programme from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (awarded in 2021) and Xi'an Jiaotong University in mainland China (awarded in 2022). He also holds an MSc degree from the University of Leicester, UK (awarded in 2011) and a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (First-class Honours) from Bahria University, Pakistan (awarded in 2010). He is a Registered Engineer and a Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), USA, and The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), UK.

With over four years of academic experience, Dr Hussain has served as a lecturer in multiple universities in Pakistan. He has taught various undergraduate and graduate-level courses in Computer Science, Telecommunication, and Electronics domains, established IEEE Student Branches while acting as their Branch Counselor, and became a certified master trainer capable of training newly inducted university faculty members in teaching techniques. 

Prior to joining the College of Professional and Continuing Education (CPCE), Dr Hussain worked at the Centre for Advances in Reliability and Safety (CAiRS) (affiliated with PolyU) located in the Hong Kong Science and Technology Park (HKSTP) for about a year. This brief yet crucial industrial experience provided him with the opportunity to engage with the local industry and observe future trends of innovation, research, and entrepreneurship in Hong Kong.

Dr Hussain's research interests include applications of Artificial Intelligence and Big Data Analytics in Wireless Communication Systems (6G/5G Mobile Networks), Mobile Edge and Fog Computing, and Cyber-Physical Systems Security. He has contributed to various national and international research projects, including a National Science Foundation (NSF), USA project on self-healing and National Natural Science Foundation of China projects, resulting in joint publications.

Dr Hussain is a dedicated educator and mentor who is deeply passionate about helping his students achieve their full potential. He firmly believes that one of the most rewarding experiences in life is witnessing his students thrive and succeed in their chosen careers.

Outside of his work, Dr Hussain enjoys exploring the natural beauty of Hong Kong through activities such as hiking. He is also an avid reader and enjoys watching videos related to finance and self-help, which he finds both informative and inspiring.
