Dr Fiona Chen received her Bachelor of Medicine from Shandong Medical University, Master of Medicine from Sun Yat-sen University, and Doctor of Philosophy from The Chinese University of Hong Kong. In 2011, she won The Natural Science Award, Class I, and the Higher Education Outstanding Scientific Research Output Awards from The Ministry of Education with the project Intracranial Large Artery Atherosclerotic Stroke: Epidemiology, Diagnosis, Pathogenesis, Imaging and Treatment (Contributors: Prof. Lawrence Ka Sing Wong, Prof. Thomas Wai-hong Leung, Prof. Simon Chun Ho Yu, Prof. Vincent Mok, Dr. Fiona Xiang-Yan Chen).

Dr Chen has published 89 peer-reviewed research papers as first/co-first/corresponding author. She has been an active researcher in the field of stroke and other aging-related diseases. Her research interests include various aspects of brain disease, such as pathological mechanisms, cerebral hemodynamics, and neuroimaging of stroke in Chinese population. Using transcranial Doppler, brain CT, and high-resolution MRI, Dr Chen has been conducting a number of clinical studies related to stroke and dementia, thereby making significant contributions to the field.
