Dr Kelvin So holds a PhD degree in Artificial Intelligence and a BSc degree majoring in Mathematics and minoring in Computer Science both from The University of Hong Kong. His current research mainly focuses on exploring AI theories and their practical applications in areas like education and finance.
 
He is an active scholar with a strong record of publications and grant funding. He has been recently awarded a research grant of over HKD 500,000 from the University Grants Committee (UGC) of the Hong Kong SAR Government. This funded project, titled “Discovering Optimal Prompting Methodologies for Large Language Models via An AI Prompting Expert System with An Application on Computing Education” (reference no.: UGC/FDS24/H25/24), investigates the prompting theories of Large Language Models (LLMs) and their educational  applications.

Dr So has published journal articles and conference proceedings extensively in top-tier venues such as AAAI Conference on Artificial Intelligence (AAAI) and International Conference on Dependable Systems and Networks (DSN); he also serves as a reviewer for prestigious journals such as Automatica.

Dr So enjoys teaching and sharing knowledge, aiming to inspire students by connecting theory with real-world applications.
