Dr Simon Chung received his Diploma in Sociology from Hong Kong Shue Yan College. To further explore his immense interest in sociology, he then went to University of Essex, England, in the mid-1990s for further studies which eventually led to his being conferred a doctorate in sociology in 2004. His main areas of interest are cultural studies and social theory.

Before joining Hong Kong Community College in 2005, Dr Chung worked as a teaching assistant at the Department of Applied Social Sciences of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University where he has gained rich experience in teaching courses spanning different aspects of sociology. Dr Chung has been actively involved in sociology education.
