Born in 1973, Mr Chan Wai-keung has a consuming passion for history, politics, and philosophy that goes back to his school days. He obtained his BA from Hong Kong Baptist University and MPhil from The Chinese University of Hong Kong. In 1997, he was awarded the Eu Tong Sen Fellowship which enabled him to conduct research on modern Chinese political and cultural history at the Center for Chinese Studies, University of Hawaii, Manoa. Over the past decade, Mr Chan has presented more than ten academic articles. In conjunction with some scholars, he has published two books and several peer reviewed articles. In 2002, he was elected a Scouloudi Fellow by the Institute of Historical Research (IHR), University of London. His research interest focuses on the relationship between collective memories, political culture and national identities. His major academic publications include:

Concurrently, he is an opinion columnist for Oriental Daily News. He used to be a political columnist for China Daily and the Sun (Hong Kong) respectively. He served as a Yau Tsim Mong District Councillor from 2008 to 2015 as well.
