Teaching and Scholarly Interests: Design
Mr Woody Lee received his bachelor's degree (majoring in Fine Arts) and Master of Fine Arts from The Chinese University of Hong Kong. After graduation, he worked as chief designer for various companies where he was responsible for product design and branding development.
Prior to joining HKCC in 2009, he had taught higher diploma in design in Hong Kong Design Institute and Sub-degree programme in School of Continuing and Professional Studies, The Chinese University of Hong Kong.
Over the years, Mr Lee has received “Fellowship for Artistic Development” from the Hong Kong Arts Development Council and he was the first Hong Kong artist to be granted “ROSL UK Travel Scholarship”. After receiving the scholarship, he went to Britain and Scotland for cultural exchange.
Mr Lee received a project grant from the Hong Kong Arts Development Council to publish “Suspended Space, Works by Woody Lee” in 2004. He has held several solo and group exhibitions both locally and internationally that showcased the variety of his artistic endeavors including designs, paintings and illustrations. Besides, he writes art critiques for local newspapers and publications.
Mr Lee is also active in community service. He has given talks at Hong Kong Society for Education in Art, the Hong Kong Arts Development Council, secondary schools and art organisations in Hong Kong on contemporary art and design. He also joined various public art projects included Artists-In-Schools Programme (the Hong Kong Arts Development Council ) in 1999, United Buddy Bears (Leisure and Cultural Services Department) in 2004, Horses Across Hong Kong (the Hong Kong Jockey Club) and An Art CONTAINER Project (Mere Independent Artists) in 2008.
Mr Lee is currently a fixed examiner of the Hong Kong Arts Development Council.
