Teaching and Scholarly Interests: Management
Dr Yang Tong earned his bachelor’s degree in Network Engineering, and his master's and doctoral degrees in Management Science and Engineering from the Dalian University of Technology, China. During his doctoral studies, Dr Yang served as a visiting scholar in Information Systems at the National University of Singapore.
Prior to joining PolyU CPCE, Dr Yang served as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the School of Hotel and Tourism Management at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Before commencing his doctoral studies, he worked in operations and asset management within the banking industry in the Chinese mainland. Currently, Dr Yang maintains long-term collaborations with industry partners on consumer big data-driven sustainable business growth.
Dr Yang’s research interests encompass big data-driven consumer analytics, applications of Large Language Models and generative AIs in business analytics, tourist and resident sentiment, and the economics of information systems. His research has been published in journals including Tourism Management, Annals of Tourism Research, Journal of Travel Research, Journal of Business Research, International Journal of Contemporary Hospitality Management, and International Journal of Hospitality Management.
