Dr Cyrus Mok is a highly accomplished professional with extensive expertise in the construction and real estate sectors. He obtained his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Surveying, Construction and Real Estate respectively at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, followed by a doctoral degree from the Faculty of Architecture of The University of Hong Kong. Dr Mok was awarded a Macau Government Postgraduate Scholarship in 2007 and received a Fellowship from The Ronald Coase Institute in 2010.
Dr Mok is a Fellow and Professional Member of various professional organisations, including The Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors (HKIS), Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB), and Australian Institute of Building (AIB). He has served as Vice-chairman of the Planning & Development Division at HKIS, an assessor for building surveying at the RICS Hong Kong Board and a professional competency assessor at the AIB Hong Kong Chapter.
Prior to joining PolyU CPCE, Dr Mok had held a number of senior positions and accumulated more than 20 years of industry experience in statutory compliance, building surveying, project management, facility management, property valuation, construction management and policy research in Hong Kong and Macau. Dr Mok has served as an in-house Research Fellow for the Chief Executive’s Policy Research Office in the Macau SAR Government, and as a project manager for the Hong Kong SAR Government. In addition, he had held positions in various organisations within the industry such as developers, consultants and contractors on a wide-range of public and private projects including large-scale resort, casino, residential, community, institutional, commercial, recreational, industrial and mixed-use developments.
After more than a decade of part-time teaching in tertiary education, Dr Mok joined the Division of Science, Engineering, and Health Studies of PolyU CPCE as a Lecturer in 2024. His teaching and research areas include building control, urban renewal, urban planning, property management, public administration, housing policy, land law, land economics, renovation and refurbishment, hospitality management, heritage and conservation.
