Dr Hu Yong received his BEng degree in Electrical Engineering and Automation from Hebei Agricultural University, MEng degree in Electrical Engineering from Beijing Jiaotong University, and PhD degree in Electrical Engineering from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU).

From 2023 to 2025, Dr Hu served as a Postdoctoral Fellow in PolyU’s Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering. In August 2025, Dr Hu began his appointment as a Lecturer in the College of Professional and Continuing Education of PolyU. His current research interests include the stability analysis of power systems with high penetration of renewable energy and electric vehicles, as well as optimal operation and planning of power grids.
