Ms Hui is a registered social worker with more than 25 years of social work frontline and management experience. From 1984 to 2011, she worked at NLCDP Service, Community Centre Service, Children & Youth Service, School Social Work Service and Family Service. The last position was Deputy Chief Executive Officer at Baptist Oi Kwan Social Service in 2011. She then joined The University of Hong Kong as Deputy Director of Field Instruction, later as Director of Field Instruction. Her main work duties involved fieldwork coordination and teaching BSW and MSW students until 2023. In 2024, Ms Hui joined PolyU CPCE as a Senior Lecturer.
Besides taking up the social worker role, Ms Hui is also keen to participate in different community services. She had been a member of Wan Chai Area Committee and a board member of an NGO. She also delivered social work training to mainland orphanages as a volunteer for 9 years. She is now the school supervisor of a primary school and the school manager of a kindergarten. Ms Hui believes that social workers must be good at building up relations with community partners to bring much-needed resources to different clients.
As an educator, Ms Hui sees the importance of role modeling for students. Through teaching, Ms Hui is keen to share the mission and values of social work, the difficulties encountered as a social worker in the social welfare sector, and the practice wisdom gained from her frontline experiences with students. With supportive and encouraging attitude, Ms Hui is committed to building up trusting relationships with students and supporting them through their learning journey.
